Pray through until you get breakthrough

We so often find ourselves feeling like we are praying but never reaching God, especially when times get tough.

So here is a few things I learned about prayer:

  1. Be Bold: Respectfully tell God what you need. You are allowed to tell God that you will not do X if he does not do Y first. Please note that I am by now means saying to become disrespectful. We have to sustain our 'holy fear of God, but we are allowed to be bold, as long as we do not become arrogant .
  2. Thank, Him for what He has done: Be grateful for what God has done in your past. Tell God that He did this or that in your past, and therefore "I trust that You will help me out of my current circumstances".
  3. Stop doubting God: When you give a problem to God, do not take it back, and start worrying about it again. Acknowledge and trust that God will help you in that circumstance. Pray through doubt.
  4. Pray through until you get a breakthrough: Intercied until He intervenes. Keep on 'bugging' God with your problems until He helps you. He is a faithful God, and he will keep on being faithful to you.
  5. Don't pray to change your circumstances, pray to change your heart: (Depending on the situation you are in.) When your heart changes, so will your view, which, in turn, will make that terrible situation seem not so bad.

12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

~ Jeremiah 29:12-13

28You will also declare a thing,

And it will be established for you;

So light will shine on your way.

29 When they cast you down, and you say, ‘Exaltation will come!’

Then He will save the humble person.

30He will even deliver one who is not innocent;

Yes, he will be delivered by the purity of your hands.”

~Job 22:28-30
