Why I prefer to use the Hebrew names for God...
Why I prefer to use the Hebrew names for God...
Disclaimer: I am not by any means trying to shove my opinion into anyone's face, only providing my reasoning for my choices.
The Word of God was originally written in Hebrew. There are many false teachings regarding this topic. The people who translated the Bible converted the scriptures from Hebrew to Greek and then to Latin before they finally translated to English.
Many people say the New Covenant(testament) was written in Greek, so they got the name of Jesus Christ after translating the Greek word ‘Isos Christos’ meaning equal headmaster. This immediately raises questions, because the Word of Elohim (God) states:
Remember things that happened at the beginning, long ago - that I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. ~Isaiah 46:9
- “there is none like me” – so how can Jesus Christ be an equal headmaster?
How did they get the name Jesus Christ from ‘Isos Christos’? - They translated the word from Greek to Latin:
- The Latin word is: Iesus Christé, which stands for ‘Jehovah is salvation” - Iesus Christé is then translated into English to Jesus Christ.
The misleading steps in, because the name of Jesus Christ is not directly translated from Hebrew (the original language), which means the Greek, Latin, and English names are also wrong.
Please note there are 2 types of Hebrew spelling.
- 1. Masoretic Hebrew(which is the correct Hebrew spelling) is the original language spoken when Yeshua was on earth.
- 2. Paleo Hebrew(the incorrect Hebrew spelling) is only 600 years old whereas Masoretic Hebrew was spoken by Elohim’s (God) chosen nation, Israel. The Paleo was created to be an 'easier version' of the original language.
But how does the Paleo differ from the Masoretic Hebrew?
- The Paleo partake of the following letters: J, Q , W , X, which are not found in the Masoretic Hebrew. (added in by people). The Masoretic does not have these letters, which means Jesus is accordingly incorrect.
Interesting fact: Not one of Yeshua’s(Jesus) disciples were Greek, which means that it's impossible for the New Covenant to have originally been written in Greek. If the Bible was directly translated from Hebrew to English, it means the name Yeshua whould have stayed the same.
When the Greeks translated the Bible, they did not understand Hebrew, because of the difficulty. So they created the new language [the new Hebrew(Paleo)] and added the letter “J” to make the name Jesus from the Latin word ‘iesus.’
This verse speaks about the people that translated Hebrew to Greek.
How can you say, “We are wise; YHVH’s (God's) Torah is with us,” when in fact the lying pen of the scribes has turned it into falsehood? ~ Jeremiah 8:8
…So what does the name Yeshua HaMashiach actually mean?
YESHUA MEANS:
- ‘THE SAVIOR’
- YESHUA ALSO MEANS YHVH SAVES, BECAUSE HE WILL SAVE PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS.
HaMashiach means:
- Ha= the Mashiach= messiah
~ Messiah means “The Anointed one”- the one who was anointed to save….
She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Yeshua, [which means ‘YHVH saves,’] because he will save his people from their sins.” ~ Matthew 1:21
Is it wrong to use the word “ADONAI” OR “LORD”?
I am not to give a definite yes or no, but only to give the bible verses, and other references so that each can decide for themselves.
- The reason why they did not use YHVH’s (God's) name is because people fell into sin and worshipped idols, like Baal.
- Another reason why they use ADONAI (which means Lord), instead of YHVH is that they believe God is ‘too Holy' to speak His original name.
BUT…
The Word of Elohim teaches us that we should call upon HIS NAME (which is YHVH) and not some “quick fix” name. (John 15:16, Isaiah 12:4, Psalm 91:14-16)
You did not choose me, I chose you; and I have commissioned you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that whatever you ask from the Father in My name he may give you.~John 15:16
On that day you will say, “Give thanks to YHVH! Call on His name! Make his deeds known among the peoples declare how exalted is his name.~ Isaiah 12:4
14“Because he loves me, I will rescue him; because he knows my name, I will protect him.
15 He will call on Me, and I will answer him. I will be with him when He is in trouble. I will extricate him and bring him honor.
16 I will satisfy him with long life and show him my salvation.” ~ Psalm 91:14-16 14
According to strongs concordance Adonai and Lord means baal.
- Latin- Baal, Greek-Baal, Hebrew-Ba’al, literally meaning “lord” (including Jehovah) reference: collins dictionary
- www.definions.net: defines baal as the following:
→ a idol
→ husband (Yeshua reveals that people will blaspheme against Him and disrespect Him by calling Him their husband instead of their Master. )
And it shall be, in that day,” says the ELOHIM, “That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘My Master.’ ~Hosea 2:16
→ master
→ lord
→ false god
→ Fertility and agri-culture
→ A god of the rain, thunder
→ one of the fallen angels of Satan
→ ….much more….
With their dreams that they keep telling each other, they hope to cause my people to forget My name; just as their ancestors forgot My name when they worshipped Ba‘al. ~Jerimiah 23:27
• These two words “Baal” and “Babylon” are essential in the Scriptures’ warning on idolatry. (Lev 19:4).
Do not turn to idols, and do not cast metal gods for yourselves; I am YHVH your Elohim. ~ Leviticus 19:4
Interesting facts:
Elohim and YHVH refers to the trinity, meaning that Elohim and YHVH refer to the father (God), the Son [Yeshua (Jesus)] and the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).
Ya, El, Elyon, and Eloh, refers to only the father (God the father). The word Ya (Father, God) repeating itself in the word YaHVaH, as well as YaHshua indicates to us that they are one.
Interesting fact: Yeshua’s name was originally YaHshua when He was with the father and changed to Yeshua temporarily when He was on earth, until He once again took His rightful place in the trinity, converting it back. Thought either name Yeshua or Yahshua is correct. Therefore YaHshua and YaHVaH both partake of Ya because the father and the son are one.
God wants us to know the truth:
- 11 Woe to those who get up early to pursue intoxicating liquor; who stay up late at night, until wine inflames them.
12 They have lutes and lyres, drums and flutes, and wine at their parties; but they pay no attention to how YHVH works and never look at what His hands have made.
13 For such lack of knowledge My people go into exile; this is also why their respected men starve and their masses are parched from thirst. ~Isaiah 5:11-13 11
- 25 I became a servant of the Good News because God gave me this work to do for your benefit. The work is to make fully known the message from God,
26 the secret hidden for generations, for ages, but now made clear to the people he has set apart for himself.
27 To them God wanted to make known how great among the Gentiles is the glorious richness of this secret. And the secret is this: the Messiah is united with you people! In that rests your hope of glory! ~Colossians 1:25-27 25
- 15Then I came to the captives at Tel Abib, who dwelt by the River Chebar; and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
16 Now it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
17 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:
18 When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
20 Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him a warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.
21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul. ~Ezekiel 3:15-21
Thus above is my reasoning for using the Hebrew names.
[I am not by any means saying that you are wrong if you choose to stick to the English names (or whichever language you speak).]
